Goodyear’s road bike tire series
EAGLE Series
The road bike tire series of the same name as Goodyear’s automobile tires.
The lineup consists of three models: the all-round EAGLE F1, the ultra-lightweight and race-specific EAGLE F1 SUPER SPORT, which weighs just 210g even at 28C, and the EAGLE SPORT, which is designed for daily use.
The top-of-the-line EAGLE F1 is available in both clincher and tubeless versions. On the other hand, the EAGLE SPORT, an entry-level tire for daily use, is available only as a clincher.
The price for this grade, which starts at around $70 per tire, is probably more cost-effective than the top grade road bike tires from other manufacturers.
VECTOR 4SEASONS
As the name suggests, the VECTOR 4SEASONS series delivers high performance in all weather conditions.
It is heavier than the EAGLE F1 series for racing, but still light enough when compared to high-durability tires from other manufacturers.
In terms of durability and the ability to perform in both wet and dry conditions, it is a highly cost-effective tire.
How to Choose a Goodyear road bike tire
Since Goodyear only entered the road bike tire market in 2019, the product lineup is not that large at present.
If you are looking for performance, the best choice is the EAGLE F1/EAGLE F1 SUPER SPORT for racing. If you are looking for durability and grip with a little less racing performance, the VECTOR 4SEASONS would be the best choice.
For clincher tires, the entry-level EAGLE SPORT is also a good choice. It does not have high race performance, but it is positioned by Goodyear as a year-round training tire, so it should be sufficient for everyday use. It is also attractive for its high cost performance at around $30 per tire.
Tubeless lineup only available on higher grades
Goodyear’s tubeless tires are available in all models except EAGLE SPORT, but conversely, the price is higher because they are only available in the higher grades. Nevertheless, they are less expensive than tubeless tires from other manufacturers, so they are highly cost-effective.
Note that all are tubeless, and there is no tubeless-ready tire lineup.
No tubular lineup
As of October 2021, Goodyear does not offer a tubular lineup of road bike tires. With fewer and fewer new tubular wheels in recent years, it is unclear whether they will appear in the future.
